Johnson’s Covid-19 Testing Failures Are Disgraceful and Fatal

Spain reported its highest daily toll of 932 and the US reached the landmark of the highest daily death toll anywhere in the world with 1,169 Covid-19 deaths recorded. Locally here in Scotland the death toll climbed by 46 overnight to 172 while a total of 1,321 patients are in hospital with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 illness and 176 of those patients are being treated in intensive care. Across the UK 684 more lives were claimed. The total lives lost is now over 3,000. Each of them a sad loss. The world is locked in a life or death war […]

March 31st is an Historic Day – It Marked the End of Thatcher & Her Poll Tax

I recognise we are in the midst of an unprecedented health crisis caused by the unforgiving COVID-19 virus; and the lack of routine testing of front-line health and social care staff coupled with the woefully inadequate supply of proper protective clothing and equipment for these essential workers is a disgrace of huge magnitude. These issues demand coverage and the incompetence of government and incapacity of the NHS to cope on the back of a decade of cuts requires daily and hard-hitting exposure. However today, March 31st, is of such historical and personal significance that I am compelled to temporarily sideline […]

Johnson Mildly Infected but Wholly Guilty of Criminally Neglecting NHS

“We are all in this together, really frankly” says Sir Ian Duncan-Smith on the afternoon news as his boss Johnson is diagnosed with Covid-19. His words are the latest in a long line of hypocrisy tainted vomit spewed from the mouths of Tory politicians. They should be locked up for their crimes committed against the health and public services, not invited to pontificate on a health crisis their irresponsible and callous actions have left us so ill-equipped to deal with. ‘Now is not the time for politics’ state many on my social media feed and thousands of other accounts. Nonsense […]

Alex Salmond is Not Guilty – His Political Comeback is Assured and Welcome

Before commenting on the entirely predictable acquittal of former First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, on all 13 charges against him, which included attempted rape, sexual assault and indecent assault, at the High Court in Edinburgh on 23rd March it is absolutely necessary to remind ourselves of the context. “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck chances are it is a duck. Now replace duck with witch-hunt and you have the essence of the ‘sexual harassment’ case against Scotland’s former First Minister Alex Salmond”. The above was the opening paragraph of an […]

Name and Shame the Covid-19 Villains – Heartless Employers & Cheats

In the midst of the necessary self-isolation to avoid unnecessary social contact during the current Covid-19 crisis I suggest we all ensure we have notebooks and pens readily available to note down for future reference the companies and individuals we intend to avoid for their selfish, greedy and irresponsible actions during this difficult period. It’s important our decisions are fact informed and not rumour fuelled but the length of the list could be substantial. I invite you to send confirmed local examples after reading this column. Hundreds of images and interviews have profoundly affected me in this last week or […]
