Tories Voting to Deny Food to Hungry Children is Low Life Conduct

The ongoing row and associated fall-outs over the extension of the free school meals voucher system in England to cover holiday periods up to Easter 2021 is a perfect illustration of the rottenness at the very heart of the Tory party which is dragging England into the gutter. Make no mistake: the cold, cruel, and callous attitudes which infect the Tory party like a cancer are more pronounced and prevalent in England, and the free school meals furore during holiday periods highlights that fact. Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have all taken steps within the limited confines of their respective […]

10yrs On From Iraq War Logs Bush & Blair Should be in Prison Not Assange

Ten years ago today the courage of two individuals changed the way millions view the world. A US soldier disgusted at the communications they were reading about their country’s conduct after illegally invading and occupying the sovereign nation of Iraq in 2003 leaked thousands of communications confirming US war crimes to Wikileaks. The site had been set up in 2006 to precisely shine a light on the dark manoeuvres of powerful nations. Chelsea Manning risked imprisonment by exposing war crimes. Julian Assange risked imprisonment by publishing those leaked files and exposing the lies and heinous crimes against humanity committed by […]

Please America Do the Right Thing on Nov 3rd

Unprecedented numbers of US voters are not waiting for the 3rd November election day to cast their votes. Heeding medical advice to avoid crowded polling stations and taking advantage of the postal ballot for safer voting, more than 26 million have already declared who they want to occupy the White House in the next four years. With opinion polls suggesting that early voters are much more likely to be Democrats than Republicans (62% to 28%) it is surely good news for those of us who agree with Noam Chomsky that Trump deserves to be voted out of office. Surely a […]

Independence Support Reaches Record Level – A Sense of Urgency Required

The latest opinion poll on support for independence has reported its findings on Wednesday and they make grim reading for the dwindling band of British state apologists. Since the beginning of 2020 eleven separate opinion polls in succession have recorded majority support for independence at anywhere between 51% to 55%. Now the twelfth has rocked the shaky Westminster foundations and set off alarm bells throughout unionist ranks. Conducted by the reputable Ipsos/Mori for Scottish Television support for an independent Scotland now stands at an unprecedented 58%. While this story has quite rightly dominated news bulletins in Scotland and been greeted […]
