Solidarity Membership FAQs
Why should I Join?
Solidarity – Scotland’s Socialist Movement is built on equality, social justice, compassion and inclusion. Over a million members of Socialist party’s share these values, and if you do too, then why not Join us today at Solidarity?
Members keep our movement strong and each one of you are vital in growing our movement in order to campaign on issues impacting on our communities and enabling us to contest future elections and hold the big business party’s to account.
How much is it and where does my money go?
We’ve got a wide range of rates so you might pay as little as £10 a year. Our minimum rate starts at £1 a month and you can choose to pay more if you wish, as many of our members do.
Unlike the Tories, we don’t have millionaire business donors. We rely on donations from ordinary working class people on the streets at our stalls, fundraising events and of course our small membership pledges in order to produce our materials and communications, promoting Socialist values.
Where could my membership take me?
As a member, you’ll be a key part of our team. You can contribute to help shape party policy, attend local branch meetings, put yourself forward for positions within the Party or even as a prospective candidate for local and parliamentary elections.
Whether you want to be active in campaigning to further the aims of Socialism or simply be a card carrying member is entirely your choice. You can start by joining Solidarity in the knowledge that whatever your contribution, you will be a valued member of Scotland’s Socialist Movement.
Once I’ve joined — what’s the next step?
You will receive a membership card by post and be contacted by one of our regional organisers who will advise you on the nearest local branch. We’ll also offer support and guidance, where necessary, if you decide to get further involved with the party by keeping you updated with information about local campaigning, events, and political training sessions as well as opportunities to share your ideas about our party’s policies.
